Sentinel Samurai Troopers: the action figures that won over Five Samurai collectors

For fans of anime from the 1980s and 1990s, there are series that continue to exert an enduring appeal over time. Among them, Samurai Troopers holds a special place. In many countries, it is also known as Ronin Warriors or, in Italy, simply The Five Samurai.

The spectacular armor, character design, and battles against the Warlords of Darkness made this series one of the most beloved of its generation. In recent years, Sentinel has brought this universe back to life through the CHOU-DAN-KADOU line, a collection of 1:12-scale action figures designed to offer the most faithful representation ever made of the protagonists and their enemies.

In this article, we analyze the features of the Sentinel line, the reasons for its success among collectors, and why an action figure display case is the ideal solution for showcasing these high-end figures.

Samurai Troopers: a timeless classic

Produced by Sunrise and first broadcast in 1988, Samurai Troopers tells the story of five young warriors chosen to defend the world from the forces of evil led by Emperor Arago.

Their armor, inspired by Japanese samurai but reinterpreted in a fantasy style, has become one of the most iconic elements of the entire series.

Even today, the character design is considered one of the anime's strengths, which is why it continues to inspire statues, action figures, and dedicated collections.

The quality of the Sentinel CHOU-DAN-KADOU line

Sentinel chose to develop a line dedicated to the Samurai Troopers, targeting an adult collector audience.

The figures are made in 1:12 scale, fully articulated, and equipped with removable armor that can be worn by the character or displayed separately using the included frames. Several models also use magnets to facilitate armor assembly while maintaining stability and precision.

Each package includes numerous accessories, alternate faces, interchangeable hands, and the character's signature weapons, allowing collectors to recreate many of the poses seen in the anime.

A collection that continues to expand

The Sentinel line is not limited to the five main protagonists.

In recent years, the Four Warlords of Darkness have also been introduced, progressively expanding the collection with characters highly sought after by longtime fans of the series.

This choice has further increased collector interest, and today fans can build a much more complete collection than in the past.

Why these action figures are so highly regarded

The collector community considers the Sentinel line one of the best ever dedicated to Samurai Troopers.

The most frequently praised aspects include:

• high build quality;
• solid articulation;
• armor that is extremely faithful to the anime;
• excellent posing possibilities;
• a generous range of accessories.

Many collectors consider it an evolution of the previous lines dedicated to the series, especially in terms of stability and finishing. Community discussions also show very positive opinions about the quality of the Sentinel line.

How to display a Sentinel collection

A collection of this caliber deserves a proper display.

The numerous interchangeable parts, armor pieces, weapons, and special effects make these figures particularly spectacular, but also more vulnerable to dust and minor impacts.

For this reason, many collectors choose a dedicated plexiglass display case for their action figures.

A display case allows you to:

• protect the figures from dust;
• limit direct contact with the model;
• showcase dynamic poses and accessories;
• keep the collection organized and always visible.

For a collection such as the Sentinel Samurai Troopers, an action figure display case can transform each character into a true display piece.

Conclusion

The Sentinel Samurai Troopers are now one of the definitive benchmarks for fans of the Five Samurai.

Their high build quality, faithfulness to the original source material, and the line's continued expansion have helped make them some of the most sought-after action figures dedicated to the anime.

For those who want to preserve them over time and showcase them at their best, a plexiglass display case is the ideal finishing touch for the collection, offering protection and elegance without distracting attention from the magnificent armor that made the Samurai Troopers immortal.
